Value of Values, Transactional Art on the Blockchain
Video by MoBen and Charlie Yip, Neuro-Design Lab, 2020

This video is a Reification of VoV with the biofeedback music designed by Jean-Baptiste Barrière. It visualises and documents the artists’ abstract concepts of VoV evoked by VoV, ideas which are waiting to be realised in the near future. To MoBen, VoV is not only an abstract artwork or economic value but also “a seed of art”. (Benayoun 2021) We believe that abstractions can be explained with further abstractions. With this video, we attempt to reify VoV from the reified works and concepts. It, therefore, presents a novel form of art history writing: mixed with the artist’s statement written in the visual-audio language, it reinterprets the art history, from which new values arise. Additionally, the interaction between the visitors and HCI is impossible to be documented because the processes involved in it are too complicated and in need of explanation. Thus, the video also serves the function of introducing VoV and providing the audience with insights into infinite possibilities of Reification of VoV by sharing reified examples and ideas. This work has been shown in lectures and talks, conferences, exhibitions, and events, most recently during Ars Electronica Festival 2020 (Austria), Glowing Globe, Artificial Art Alienated (Croatia), Festival ACCES)S( #21 Mental Thing (France), Digital Innovation for Culture online lecture by Maurice Benayoun for MEET Digital Culture Center (Italy), and on the platform RealTime Conference 2021.

Giving shape to human values
- Real-time short cut from the brain to the blockchain
Video by Maurice Benayoun and Charlie Yip, Neuro-Design Lab, 2021

This video is an edited version of RealTime Conference 2021 Closing Event: Live Artistic Performance presented by Maurice Benayoun with Tobias Klein on April 29, 2021. In response to the event topic The Rise of the Metaverse, Merging Physical and Digital Worlds Seamlessly, the presenters reenacted the experience of VoV participants on stage, giving the explanation of the mechanism, the objectives of the research, and its influences on the public. The target audience of this event consisted of various experts in real-time creative technologies and virtual production across media industries.

Demonstrating to these experts how creative technologies are artistically explored, this performance emphasized a perspective of symbiotic relationships between them and artists. It aimed to foster communication and collaboration between the two groups and provided the audience with new insights into the ways of creating virtual experiences in response to the convergence of the physical and digital worlds. The video was shown in “Experiments in Art, Science and Ethology of the Art-Subject” online showcase for Ars Electronica 2021.
